Residents found a crested ibis chick which fell from a tree in Hanzhong City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The chick has gray feathers and is not yet able to fly. It did not drink or eat anything. The staff of Shaanxi Hanzhong Crested Ibis National Nature Reserve had to feed it with saline.

According to the staff, the chick is two months old. It will live in the artificial breeding center until it can fly, and then be released back into the wild.

The crested ibis is under first-class protection in China, and the 2020 hatching period for the crested ibis happened recently.
