SW China village turns barren hills into blueberry fields

Early summer marks the beginning of harvest time for blueberries, a fruit that benefits people's livelihood in Nachong village in SW China's Guizhou Province. /CFP

Nachong village used to be a less-developed area with few job opportunities for its young people. /CFP

In 2016, the village turned 19.98 hectares of wasteland into blueberry fields, enabling its villagers, most of whom are from the Miao ethnic group, to be employed locally. /CFP

So far, more than 320 people have joined the local blueberry cooperative, and besides the sales revenue, farmland tourism has become their new source of income. /CFP
