There will be two enshrinement ceremonies for Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, as Jerry Colangelo, chairman of the board of governors for the hall, told ESPN on Wednesday.

"We're definitely canceling. It's going to have to be the first quarter of next year. We'll meet in a couple of weeks and look at the options of how and when and where," said Colangelo.

The Class of 2020, one of the biggest heavyweight classes in the hall's history, led by Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, was originally scheduled to be enshrined in August. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to hit the U.S., causing over 100,000 deaths all over the country, the ceremony was first postponed until October 2020 and then moved to 2021.

According to Colangelo, the board of governors will meet on June 10 to discuss details of the spring ceremony, which he said would not be combined with the Class of 2021 one.

"We won't be combining them. The Class of 2020 is a very special class and deserves its own celebration," he said.

Besides the big three of Bryant, Duncan and Garnett, the following legends will also be inducted into the Class of 2020: two-time NBA champions coach Rudy Tomjanovich, 10-time WNBA All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings, Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey, Bentley College women's basketball coach Barbara Stevens, former FIBA and IOC executive Patrick Baumann and former college coach Eddie Sutton, who died last Saturday.
