Urban nature's healing moments: The Old Summer Palace
The Old Summer Palace in Haidian District, the western suburb of Beijing, is composed of three gardens: Yuanmingyuan, Changchunyuan and Qichunyuan. It used to be one of the most outstanding models of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) garden design before it was destroyed in 1860. Now, little by little, the garden is regaining its glory thanks to its expanding green foliage and picturesque scenery, which draw people to the area.
