China willing to improve anti-epidemic cooperation with Peru

China is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with Peru in various fields including epidemic prevention and control to safeguard public health and safety and to facilitate economic recovery, Chinese President Xi Jinping said when recently exchanging letters with Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra over bilateral cooperation on the COVID-19 fight.

On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi extended sincere sympathy to Peru's government and people of Peru over the COVID-19 outbreak in Peru.

He noted at the request of Peru, China has sent a group of medical experts to provide assistance to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in Peru.

As next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru, the Chinese president hoped two sides could reach more tangible results.

Vizcarra thanked the Chinese government for sending medical experts, providing anti-epidemic materials, facilitating the procurement of medical supplies, and sharing anti-epidemic experience.

He reiterated that Peru attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership between two sides.

Through cooperation, the two peoples will eventually overcome the epidemic, the Peruvian president noted,adding that the two tenacious ancient civilizations could overcome all difficulties and hardships.
