Crested ibis couple released in the wild hatches four chicks

Updated 2020.05.30 15:15 GMT+8

A crested ibis couple hatched four chicks in Qianhu National Wetland Park in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

The female bird is believed to have flown from Tongchuan City, more than 100 kilometers away. The male partner was artificially bred and released in the Qianhu National Wetland Park in 2016.

The park's staff set up tents on the hillside 50 meters away from the nest to monitor the chicks and provide help if necessary.

Although the survival rate of wild crested ibis chicks is relatively high, it is rare for four eggs to hatch in one nest.
