Villager rescues injured white spoonbill in East China

Updated 2020.05.31 18:28 GMT+8

An injured white spoonbill was found by a villager who was plowing the field near Poyang Lake in east China's Jiangxi Province. The staff of the Poyang County Forestry Bureau rushed to the scene after receiving the report.

It was an adult male white spoonbill and one of its wings was seriously injured. According to the staff, the bird may not be able to fly again because its wing was broken in half. It will be fed artificially in the wildlife protection center of Poyanghu National Wetland Park until it returns to health.

The white spoonbill is under the second-class protection in China and lives in swamps, river beaches, and reed ponds.
