Two of the world's largest squirrels spotted enjoying food together

Updated 2020.06.01 19:45 GMT+8

Two black giant squirrels were spotted enjoying wild fruit together near Xiaoheishan Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province. Black giant squirrels usually live alone, and it is rare for two squirrels to forage in one tree.

The black giant squirrel is one of the largest species of squirrels in the world. The adult squirrel weighs up to 3,000 grams, with a body length of 40 centimeters. It is under second-class protection in China.

Ten species of the squirrel family have been recorded in the reserve and nearby areas such as the giant squirrel and red-bellied squirrel.
