The police at Alashankou Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region received a report that a new-born Przewalski's gazelle cub was found with an umbilical cord. This is the second gazelle cub found in residential areas this summer. The cub was weak but without injuries according to a health check.
Now it gradually recovers and can stand and move. The forest police will take care of it before it is strong enough to back into the wild.
Przewalski's gazelle is under the top level of national protection in China. It mainly lives in Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions and Gansu and Qinghai provinces.
