Full strawberry moon seen across the world

Updated 2020.06.06 15:16 GMT+8

June's full moon, also known as the "Strawberry Moon," was seen across the world with a lunar eclipse. The nickname "Strawberry Moon" was given by Native American tribes, as it comes after the relatively short harvesting season of strawberries in the United States. /VCG

According to NASA, the Strawberry Moon can also be called "Honey Moon," as it is time when honey starts to get ripe and ready for harvest, which makes June's moon the "sweetest" moon of the year. /VCG

Apart from these names, nicknames like the "Rose Moon," "Flower Moon," and "Planting Moon" were also given to what is the last moon of spring. /VCG

This year's Strawberry Moon coincides with the penumbral lunar eclipse. The sweetest moon of the year with a dimmed lower edge was seen in parts of the world, including Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa. The picture of a "half" strawberry moon was captured in Brighton, U.K. /VCG
