In late May, two glossy ibises appeared in Zhanjiang City, south China's Guangdong Province, after 15 years, which attracted bird researchers, bird photographers, and bird lovers.

Glossy ibises are under second-class protection in China. The wading birds were spotted in Zhanjiang City for the first time in January 2005 and had not been seen since.

In order to protect the birds, enthusiasts maintained a safe distance from the birds and hid in tents to watch and photograph them.
