ECMO refers to a machine which can temporarily replace human's heart and lungs. It is usually called the artificial heart-lung machine. It does provide cardiopulmonary support for a limited period of time for critically ill patients. Dr. Li Chao from Peking University Third Hospital shared her experience on when to put severe patients on ECMO, with Brazilian peers during a video conference held by CGTN.
