Sergio Ramos's agent has agreed to the one-year contract extension offer by Real Madrid, AS.com reported. That means the 34-year-old team captain will stay at the Bernabeu until summer 2022.

There were rumors claiming that Ramos was asking for a longer deal – say, two years – from Real Madrid, but the club, like many other European heavyweights, follow the principle of signing veterans who are over 30 years old with only a one-year contract every time.

Ramos himself in February spiked the rumor himself. "The relationship with the club is magnificent in every way. So there is no rush on any side – mine or the club. I've never made extra demands, I understand the club's policy with players of a certain age. If the club wants me to stay, I'll stay, no need to worry. It seems they want to provoke a confrontation between the club and Ramos and it will not be like that," said Ramos.

Though he was not from the team’s youth development system, Ramos is definitely a senior of the Los Blancos. Having played almost 15 seasons for Real Madrid, he won four La Liga champions and four UEFA Champions League titles with the club. Though he's a center back, Ramos has been well-known for his scoring ability – he scored at least one goal in every of his 15 La Liga seasons so far.

Though Ramos seemed to be reaching a deal with Real Madrid, there's no tell whether he will be able to complete his career here. After all, this is a club that is famous for expelling accomplished veteran players – Fernando Hierro, Raúl González, Guti, Iker Casillas.
