A family of six corsac foxes – two adults and four cubs – were discovered near a village in northwest China's Gansu Province.
Corsac foxes are under second-class state protection in China and are usually found in areas with no human activity. It is rare to find them near a village.
In recent years, afforestation in the area has reclaimed large land areas suffering from desertification and has seen more wildlife return.
