A fresh batch of European meat products has arrived in the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, after 10 days in transit from the Brest Region of Belarus. The freight train is part of the China-Europe railway service. In its reefer containers are tons of frozen beef and chicken, among other items, all of which are worth 3.7 million U.S. dollars. The freight train service has delivered nearly 2,000 tons of meat from Europe to Chengdu since early this year. As the economic impact of COVID-19 eases, China is looking to expand its domestic market for growth. The government has pledged to increase imports from other European countries like Poland, Italy and Spain in the near future.
