After a week of large demonstrations against racism and police brutality in the world, the French government announced on June 8 that police should no longer use chokeholds when arresting people. About 30 police officers honked horns and jammed traffic in protest against the French government's response to mounting criticism of police violence and racism. They paraded through the Champs Elysees and held a minute's silence for fallen police officers outside the Interior Ministry, where they sang the national anthem.
