Recently, the staff of the Xiaozhaizigou National Nature Reserve found footage of takins captured by infrared cameras in the Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County of southwest China's Sichuan Province. According to the staff, this is the first time the reserve has captured footage of the animal.

In the footage, a takin family, with a calf, was grazing and strolling.

The takin is a large, muscular, hoofed mammal similar to a goat. It is under first-class state protection in China and listed as vulnerable in the IUCN Red List.
