China's first automatic lighthouse meteorological observatory was put into service on Thursday in Xiamen city, southeast China's Fujian province. Located on a reef called "Jiujiejiao" in waters off the Port of Xiamen, the observatory provides vessels, ports and maritime departments with meteorological data, including visibility, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction and air pressure.
