It says the situation is still under investigation, but a test suggests the infections could have been imported to China. Experts don't yet know if the virus was on the surface of contaminated seafood or meat or whether it was transmitted by people visiting the Xinfadi wholesale market. There have been reports it was detected on a cutting board for imported salmon.
