The Premier League said on Saturday that there are two positive test results from their latest round of COVID-19 tests of players and staff.
"The Premier League can today (June 13) confirm that on Thursday (June 11) and Friday (June 12), 1200 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, two have tested positive from two clubs," the league said in a statement.
This was the eighth round of testing by the league. The total number of cases across all 20 teams now stands at 16.
Norwich City have confirmed a player of their squad is one of the two positive cases.
"In line with the Premier League's protocols, the player will now self-isolate for a period of seven days before being tested again at a later date," the club said.
"The player must return a negative test result before being able to resume training."
"The club will not name the player in question and asks that his request for privacy and confidentiality are respected at this time."
The results continue a trend of low positive results since the return to training last month.
The Premier League will return to action on Wednesday with its first games since March, when the season was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
