China on Saturday activated a level-IV emergency response, the lowest in the country's four-tier warning system, for Nuri.

The Ministry of Emergency Management warned that parts of Guangdong and neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region are vulnerable to mountain torrents and landslides as the areas had been hit by recent rainstorms.
