A sandstorm swept across Tacheng Prefecture in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Wednesday (June 17) evening.

The sandstorm restricted visibility to less than 100 meters, disrupting local traffic. The adverse weather also brought some rainfall, leaving cars coated in dirt and debris strewn across the road.

The local meteorology observatory raised the weather warning alert to orange as the storm intensified.
