China has approved five COVID-19 vaccines for clinical trials, of which three have completed phase II clinical trials, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Health Commission jointly announced on Friday. "All the processes of research and development, the evaluation criteria, and technical guidelines to ensure safety and effectiveness are in compliance with international standards," said Wang Junzhi, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
