Brazil has officially recorded more than 1 million COVID-19 cases after a single-day record of 55,000 on Friday. Nearly 50,000 people have now died from COVID-19. The numbers keep rising even as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, the two hardest-hit states, reopened for business. Modeling shows the country may pass the U.S. in terms of fatalities in the next two months.
