In Nanhaizi Park located in southern Beijing, the trees are home to a variety of birds like grey herons, azure-winged magpies and light-vented bulbuls.

Nanhaizi, which used to be an imperial garden on the city's outskirts, is the largest wetland park in Beijing.

Records show that over 400 bird species have been spotted in the capital and birdwatching is a popular activity among nature lovers in the city, especially in spring and autumn when migratory birds pass by Beijing on their journey between breeding and wintering grounds.
