The Guangdong Southeast Tigers eased past the Jiangsu Dragons 119-71 with top players only showing up in the first half in the 2019-2020 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season in Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province, on Tuesday.

Guangdong established a double-digit advantage in the first quarter thanks to their high three-pointer accuracy. Jiangsu strove to make a comeback but could not stop Guangdong's fierce attacks, letting the gap get wider. The free throws in the last minute made Guangdong nearly double Jiangsu's score, ending at 33-17.

In the second quarter, Guangdong's strong defense put much pressure on Jiangsu and blocked their attempt to cut the deficit. Guangdong center Wan Shengwei contributed an impressive long-distance three-pointer, helping his team take a thirty-point lead over their opponents.

Former NBA player Yi Jianlian, Guangdong's top star, was off the court after the interval, and his teammates rallied to maintain their edge over forty points till the end of the game, sealing a big score victory without any suspense.

Zeng Fanri, the 24-year-old center, grabbed a team-high 22 points for Guangdong. Yi and his teammate Du Runwang both notched 17 points and six baskets.

O.J. Mayo makes CBA debut

Former NBA star O.J. Mayo made his CBA debut but failed to help the Liaoning Flying Leopards avoid a two-game losing streak on Tuesday in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province.

Mayo, the No. 3 overall pick of the 2008 NBA draft, was activated by Liaoning two days before the match. He had 28 points and six rebounds as the former CBA champion narrowly lost to Guangzhou Loong Lions 106-102.

Liaoning's Guo Ailun finished with a game-high 32 points, and Han Dejun had 24 points and 14 rebounds. Marcus Georges-Hunt collected 29 points and 15 rebounds for Guangzhou.

Guangzhou took its biggest lead of the game at 24-8 in the first quarter, but Liaoning bounced back to tie the scores at 46-46 going into half-time.

Mayo's three-pointer gave Liaoning a 91-88 lead midway through the fourth, before Hunt scored seven points in a row to put Guangzhou 99-95 up with 2:23 left in the game.

Chen Yingjun sealed the victory for Guangzhou with a jump shot and 4-for-4 shooting from the free throw line.

Dai Huaibo inspires Jilin to 112-107 win over Fujian

Dai Huaibo scored 25 points, including seven 3-pointers, as Jilin Northeast Tigers defeated Fujian Sturgeons 112-107 in the 2019-20 CBA league on Tuesday in Dongguan. 

Chen Linjian got 10 points at the beginning of the first quarter to help Fujian into a 18-8 lead, before they finished the first quarter 30-23 ahead.

Fujian kept their lead until Jilin hit five 3-pointers in a row at the beginning of the fourth quarter, allowing Jilin to take a 90-84 lead with a 15-2 run. Wang Zhelin dismantled Jilin's defense, but he failed to bring victory to Fujian despite collecting a game-high 38 points and 14 rebounds.

Ty Lawson was unable to repeat his performance in the previous game, scoring just 15 points and missing all four of his 3-pointer attempts.

Jilin's Sean Hill Jr. scored a team-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Jiang Yuxing added 21 points for Jilin.
