A military meeting of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has decided to suspend military action plans against the Republic of Korea (ROK), the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Wednesday.

The KCNA reported that the country's top leader Kim Jong Un made the decision while presiding over the preliminary meeting for the fifth meeting of the Seventh Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

"The WPK Central Military Commission took stock of the prevailing situation and suspended the military action plans against the South brought for the fifth meeting of the Seventh Central Military Commission by the General Staff of the Korean People's Army," the report said,

The meeting also discussed documents outlining measures for "further bolstering the war deterrent of the country," KCNA added.

Pyongyang recently cut off all communication lines with Seoul and blew up the liaison office building near the border with ROK in protest against the anti-Pyongyang leaflets sent by defectors and other activists.

ROK media reported Wednesday that DPRK was seen withdrawing loudspeakers in the morning from the eastern inter-Korean border area that had been redeployed since Sunday afternoon. 

The propaganda loudspeakers had been dismantled after ROK President Moon Jae-in and top DPRK leader Kim agreed upon the dismantlement in their first summit in April 2018 at the border village of Panmunjom.
