Fireflies create 'midsummer night's dream' in SW China
Midsummer is the season for observing fireflies. Recently, at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden located in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Yunnan Province, thousands of fireflies create beautiful scenery that attracts streams of visitors.
Fireflies are beetles that light up because of a chemical reaction in their lower abdomen to communicate with others and to find their mates. They usually live in warm and humid environment and appear on summer nights.
