Mexico City's secretary of public security, Omar Garcia Harfuch, was injured and two of his bodyguards killed in a dramatic assassination attempt early on Friday. Harfuch was shot three times when he and bodyguards came under heavy fire around dawn in an upscale Mexico City neighborhood. The attack was quickly blamed on one of the country' s most powerful drug gangs, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
