Sao Joao Hospital – the largest hospital in Porto, Portugal – is also the busiest in the northern part of the country. It normally holds about 150 patients in a day, but since the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the country, that number has jumped to 350.

Dr. Nelson Pereira, Dr. Cristina Marujo and their team have come up with new methods to effectively treat this increased number. They use a color-coded system to identify the severity of the patients and have concentrated all the medical equipment needed to treat patients in one area to minimize movement. With the bravery and sacrifice of the two doctors and their team, they believe there will be a day they win this battle.
