Chinese authorities are ramping up efforts in flood control and disaster relief to ensure the safety of people's lives and property as incessant downpours continue to wreak havoc in vast stretches of the country. So far, the Ministry of Emergency Management dispatched five special work teams to the worst-hit areas to provide guidance in disaster relief. The State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development has also urged local governments to thoroughly investigate potential infrastructure hazards and speed up the reconstruction of damaged houses, roads and water conservancy facilities.
