Local governments are taking various epidemic prevention measures for the upcoming national college entrance examination, or Gaokao, starting from July 7 to July 9.
The Gaokao was previously scheduled for early June but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The examination sites across the country are equipped with body temperature monitors. Students whose temperature is higher than 37.3 degrees centigrade will take the exam in an isolation room.
In Wuhan city, Hubei Province, preventive measures against COVID-19 have been put in place, such as providing students with face masks and hand sanitizer.
In Rongjiang County, southeast China's Guizhou Province, rehearsals were conducted for the examination. Besides taking temperature checks and wearing masks, students are required to distance from each other for one meter and disinfect their hands before entering the examination site.
In south China's Hainan Province, local governments have designated one hospital for each examination site in case of any emergencies. Various cities of Hainan have established special teams for epidemic prevention and control and dispatched at least two medical staff and one ambulance for each examination site.
Other facilities are provided to Gaokao students for a better environment for this important exam.
In Xi'an City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local traffic officers will enforce traffic control near examination sites to provide a "green corridor" for them.
This year, an estimated 10.71 million students will sit the college entrance exam at 400,000 locations across China. Around 945,000 staff will participate in the related work.
