In a paddy field in Yunhe County, east China's Zhejiang Province, bird photography enthusiasts accidentally found eight common moorhen eggs. The bird photography enthusiasts, local forest police and villagers guarded the bird's nest for more than 20 days. Then, seven of the eggs hatched chicks.

The breeding season of the common moorhen falls between May and July. They prefer to live in paddy fields, ponds or wetlands.
