By September 2019, unrest in Hong Kong had entered its fourth month. Hong Kong residents could not live peaceful lives because of the turmoil. On the evening of September 11, Lee Chik, a primary school teacher, and his three children went swimming, passing the ground floor of Amoy Mall on the way. Unexpectedly, they faced hundreds of rioting black-clad protesters. While the rioters were singing what they called the national anthem of Hong Kong, Lee sang the Chinese national anthem despite being insulted by the rioters.
