The first Yangtze finless porpoise bred in captivity was released into the Tian'ezhou National Nature Reserve in Shishou City, central China's Hubei Province, on Monday.

Born in 2016, finless porpoise Beibei was reared in a pool for four years. The animal has received training aimed at helping it adapt to the wild since June 1. The staff of the reserve will monitor Beibei and help it if necessary.

There are currently more than 80 finless porpoises living in the reserve.
