A Chinese pangolin was released into a nature reserve last Friday in Chaozhou City, south China's Guangdong Province.

The animal, under first-class state protection in China, was found injured on June 14 in the city.

After treatment, experts made sure the pangolin was able to find prey before it was returned to the wild. Considering that pangolins are active mostly at night, experts released the pangolin at around 7 p.m.

Staff from the Guangdong Wildlife Rescue Center have helped more than 40 types of animals settle in the Phoenix Mountain provincial nature reserve.
