E China town's 800-year-old bridge damaged by floods

The 800-year-old Rainbow Bridge in Qinghua Town, Wuyuan County, in east China's Jiangxi Province was damaged by floods on Wednesday. /CFP

Local tourism authorities said that the deck of the bridge was partially damaged but its piers remained intact. /CFP

An announcement by local authorities on Thursday said the repair work would soon begin and called for clues as to the whereabouts of the missing part of the bridge deck. /CFP

The Rainbow Bridge was originally built in the Southern Song Dynasty and has over 800 years of history. It is 140 meters long and is regarded as one of the most beautiful lounge bridges in China. /CFP
