Cristiano Ronaldo converted two penalties in the game against Atalanta on Saturday, drawing at 2-2, denying the visitors 10th straight win. Juventus is now eight points clear at the top of Serie A.

Atalanta went ahead twice when Duvan Zapata gave Atlanta the lead in the 16th minute and Ruslan Malinovskyi fired Atalanta back in front in the 81st minute.

Ronaldo, however, scored twice from penalties awarded for handballs at the 55th and the last minute, bringing his personal tally to 28 goals in 28 Serie A games this season, moving within one score of Lazio's Ciro Immobile atop the league scoring chart.

Second-placed Lazio had earlier lost to Sassuolo 1-2 at home. The Roman squad conceded a stoppage-time winner in losing to Sassuolo 2-1 at home for its third straight defeat.

With six rounds remaining, third-placed Atalanta, which is one point further back, might be the Bianconeri's biggest challenger.

"We wanted to see where we were at, because we're going to be facing teams like this in the Champions League," Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said. "We were able to do everything we intended to do."

Elsewhere, fifth-placed Roma won at Brescia 3-0 with goals from Federico Fazio, Nikola Kalinić and Nicolò Zaniolo.
