Locusts appear in southwest China's Yunnan Province

Yellow-spined bamboo locusts have appeared in the Niuluohe Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province, which borders the Lao People's Democratic Republic, since June 28, according to the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Pu'er City.

As of July 8, Pu'er City has cumulatively monitored more than 40,000 hectares of land where the yellow-spined bamboo locust has been active. The yellow-spined bamboo locust poses a serious threat to local crops.
