Live: Little wild crested ibis thrives in NW China

Wild crested ibises couple Honghong and Huohuo welcomed their newborn on June 20. The little crested ibis is healthy and active, and is expected to leave the nest in a month's time. At this stage, the little crested ibis is not yet fully developed; its immunity system and motor skills are still weak. This means the young bird may be prone to getting sick, and falling from the nest among other problems. The parents work together to protect their baby ibis from predators or other accidents. They take extra good care of the crested ibis, not only feeding it regularly, but also protecting it from the sun and rain during the day.
