Premier League clubs have agreed to a 10-week summer transfer window, which will open on July 27 and run until October 5.

The 2020-21 season is due to begin a month later than scheduled in September. The transfer window will open the day after the pandemic-delayed season ends, the league said Wednesday following a decision by clubs.

Premier League clubs will have from October 5 to 16 to sign players on loan or permanently from 72 teams in the English Football League.

FIFA still has to approve the transfer window plans.

Earlier, European Club Association chief executive Charlie Marshall said the upcoming transfer window would provide an indication of the state of football's health as huge loss have been made to clubs and the football world as a whole.

He said that clubs and leagues should take the opportunity to build more sustainably for the future.

"This is imperative as we are still living with COVID-19 and, if nothing else, we have learned that being flexible and prepared for unpredictability is part of our future," he said.

A recent study suggests that the pandemic is likely to cost Europe's top-flight football clubs around 4 billion Euros in lost revenue.
