The United States is the world's worst human rights violator, and its accusations against China on its human rights conditions are the century's biggest lie, said China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

At Thursday's regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Hua Chunying said while the U.S. has been talking about human rights all the time, its actions have shown otherwise. 

Hua pointed out how the U.S. performed poorly on a series of human rights issues, including the slaughtering of an indigenous population, launching military operations and wars in multiple countries and the failure to preserve the human rights of minority groups. 

She added that the wealth inequality in the U.S. is also the highest among Western countries.

The remarks came after the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. will be slapping visa restrictions on employees of China's tech-giant Huawei, citing the company's violation of human rights.

The Chinese spokesperson said Chinese people are the ones best able to judge China's human rights performance, not U.S. politicians. 

Hua said since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, China has achieved significant achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, as 850 million people have been lifted out of poverty, and China has contributed over 70 percent to the world's overall poverty reduction.

Moreover, as the world's second-largest economy, China is also the only major country that did not achieve its success today through war, colonization or slavery, Hua said.

It is the best practice of human rights and China's biggest contribution to the world's efforts in promoting human rights, the Chinese spokesperson said, noting that China has contributed to roughly a third of the world's economy for more than a decade.
