Chinese tech giant Huawei on Thursday voiced disappointment over U.S. decision to place visa restrictions on some of its employees, the company told Chinese media outlet National Business Daily.

Huawei said that the move is "unfair," adding that its employees are "dedicated to technology innovation." "Huawei operates independently of the Chinese government. We are a private, employee-owned firm. We are disappointed by this unfair and arbitrary action to restrict visas of our employees," the company added.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took fresh aim at China on Wednesday, saying the United States would impose visa restrictions on Chinese firms like Huawei Technologies Co Ltd that he accused of facilitating human rights violations.

For a long time, the Trump administration has called for a ban on Huawei's products around the world, especially for 5G wireless networks.

On January 28 this year, the British government announced that it would allow Huawei to participate in the construction of its 5G network, and that Huawei equipment's market share on non-core networks should not exceed 35 percent.

But on July 14, Britain's attitude towards Huawei was reversed. It decided to stop using Huawei equipment in its 5G construction.

Appearing before reporters in the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was responsible for the UK's decision to ban Huawei.

"We convinced many countries, many countries – I did this myself for the most part – not to use Huawei, because we think it's an unsafe security risk, it's a big security risk," Trump said.

"I talked many countries out of using it: if they want to do business with us, they can't use it. Just today, I believe that UK announced that they're not going to be using it."
