China on Friday snubbed U.S. for raising an alarm over Beijing's weapons exports while urging Washington to reconsider its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. The Chinese reaction came after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called for an extension to a UN arms embargo on Iran, alleging that the U.S. believes China would sell weapons systems to Iran after the restriction expires in October.

"China has practiced caution and responsibility in arms exports. And no one can criticize China for conducting regular arms trade with any country that does not violate international obligations," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying asserted at a regular press conference on Friday.
