A Phayre's leaf monkey that recently entered a forestry area in Jingdong County, Puer City, in southwest China's Yunnan Province, has been released into the wild.

Staff of the forestry said they found the monkey climbing a tree. It even enjoyed the fruit they offered it.

To avoid accidents, they called police who took the monkey away for observation to make sure it was healthy. It has since been released into the wild.

The Phayre's leaf monkey is under first-class protection in China as it is threatened by hunting and habitat loss. It is also considered endangered in the IUCN Red List.
