CBA highlights on July 19: Jilin secure playoff qualification

In the last CBA game on Sunday night, the Shenzhen Aviators, to most people's surprise, defeated the Zhejiang Lions 94-87, managing to keep their last hope for playoff qualification. Lu Yiwen dropped team-high 27 points for Shenzhen while his teammate Yang Linwei buried five 3-pointers. Zhejiang though watched Hu Jinqiu score 24 points, 14 rebounds, the team's orchestrator Sun Ming totally lost his target by going 5-17 to get only 11 points.

Despite starting point guard Guo Ailun's absence, the Liaoning Flying Leopards took an easy win over the Beijing Royal Fighters 123-106. Han Dejun scored game-high 32 points plus 11 rebounds. Neither side was able to establish decent lead in the first three quarters but Liaoning managed to turn the game into a foregone conclusion with 26-10 in Q4.

The Jilin Northest Tigers which have been struggling in the past week managed to defeat the Shanghai Sharks 121-110 in an overtime game on Sunday, securing a playoff spot in advance. All five starting players of Jilin reached double-digits in scoring, and four of them got 20+points. Cui Jinming dropped 29+10+7 while Jiang Yuxing had 29+5+5.

The Tianjin Pioneers finally claimed the team's first victory since season restart as they beat the Bayi Rockets 103-96. He Siyu went 11-16, including 5-7 from downtown to put down court-high 27 points for Tianjin. His teammate Tian Yu contributed 20 points off the bench. Thanks to this win, Tianjin avoided replacing Bayi to be the bottom team of the league.
