China's shipbuilding industry maintained its leading position globally in the first half of the year as it held sway in three key aspects, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has said.

The completion volume of shipbuilding, dropping by 10.6 percent year on year to 17.58 million deadweight tonnes (dwt) in the first half of the year, accounted for 37.2 percent of the global market share.
