The number of nests of oriental white storks at a reserve in China's northeastern Heilongjiang Province hit a record high of 70 in July this year. The reserve is home to 263 species of birds, including the oriental white stork, a rare species under first-class state protection in China. Reserve staff have built hundreds of artificial nests at the reserve for those birds. More and more rare birds are seen choosing the reserve as their home for nesting and breeding.
