British Airways will resume flights to the Chinese mainland starting August 9, with tickets available for booking on the airline's website starting Tuesday.

The first route to reopen will be between London and Shanghai, and will be operated by British Airways every Thursday and Sunday.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage in some parts of the world, passengers are required to wear a face covering during the whole trip and prepare enough masks to change every four hours on the 11-hour flight. Cabin crew will wear protective clothing.

British Airways temporarily suspended flights to the Chinese mainland on January 29 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dozens of foreign airways have either resumed or are shortly resuming flights to the Chinese mainland, including Air France, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Virgin Atlantic, Japan Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines.

On Tuesday, Chinese authorities announced that all China-bound passengers should complete nucleic acid tests and test negative within five days before their flight's schedule.
