The Chinese state-owned aerospace company, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) says that the Chinese-made ARJ21 regional aircraft has served over 1 million passengers as of July 20.

The ARJ21 is the first regional jet independently developed and manufactured by China. It is designed with a capacity of 78-90 seats. The homegrown plane can fly up to a range of 3,700 kilometers over alpine and plateau regions, and adapt to various airport conditions.

The ARJ21 jet made its first commercial flight with Chengdu Airlines in June 2016. Since then, COMAC has delivered a total of 33 ARJ21 airplanes to customers including Chengdu Airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines. The fleet of aircraft now fly routes linking 56 cities in China.
